Your Weekend Guide to Chicago & the Suburbs —
July 3–5, 2026
Happy Fourth of July weekend! America turns 250 this year, and Chicago and its suburbs are going all out — from the biggest Navy Pier fireworks show in history to baseball, concerts, parades, and more across the region. Here’s everything happening this weekend.
Cubs vs. Cardinals Series
Come cheer on the Cubs as they take on the St. Louis Cardinals this Fourth of July weekend! There’s nothing more Chicago than spending a summer holiday at Wrigley Field — with ivy on the walls, cold drinks in hand, and a rivalry matchup that never gets old.
4th on 53rd Parade and Festival
Celebrate the 4th of July in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood with a beloved local tradition going back 30+ years. The parade kicks off at 11 a.m. with marching bands, floats, community groups, and kids on decorated bikes — followed by a free festival from 12–3 p.m. featuring performances, games, bouncy houses, face painting, a magician, and more!
A Retro American Fest
Welcome to Camp Chicago — a one-day All-American festival on the banks of the Chicago River. Live music & DJs on the water, cold drinks in the sun, yard games, arts & crafts, and a fleet of boat cruises running all afternoon into the evening. This 4th of July, Chicago’s east riverwalk transforms into the summer camp you never wanted to leave.
Independence Day Salute
Christopher Bell conducts the Grant Park Orchestra in this annual Chicago tradition. The family-friendly celebration includes patriotic favorites alongside Gershwin’s Three Preludes with principal clarinetist Dario Brignoli and Carlos Gardel’s Tango (Por Una Cabeza) with concertmaster Jeremy Black. Free and reserved seating available.
Navy Pier Independence Day Fireworks
The largest and longest fireworks show in Navy Pier’s history — an unforgettable 15-minute performance fully choreographed to music and set against Chicago’s iconic skyline. Starting at 10 PM, the extended show commemorates the 250th anniversary of America. Voted “Best Place to See Fireworks” by USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. Free admission.
Piano Men: A Billy Joel & Elton John Tribute
Piano Men is the ultimate tribute to Billy Joel & Elton John. Come spend an evening under the stars at AIRE Rooftop at the Hyatt Centric the Loop in Chicago — cocktail in hand, dancing to a song list you’d blast in the car, performed by some of Chicago’s most talented musicians!
Field of Honor
Celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States at the 5th annual Wheaton Field of Honor, where 2,000 American flags honor soldiers, veterans, first responders, and personal heroes. Visitors can also enjoy nightly patriotic tributes, including Honor Guards, flyovers, musical performances, and the playing of Taps. Free admission.
Taste of Oak Brook
The Taste of Oak Brook is the Village’s signature summer festival, featuring delicious food from local restaurants, live music, family activities, and an exciting evening of entertainment. This year’s celebration includes performances by Whiskey Friends and Sixteen Candles, plus a spectacular drone show and fireworks finale honoring America’s 250th anniversary. Free admission.
Mid-Summer Classics Concert Series
Held on the beautifully manicured Rotary Green, this beloved annual tradition features unforgettable live performances in a family-friendly setting. This year’s 4th of July show features Jake Owen. Bring your lawn chairs, pack a picnic, or enjoy on-site food vendors as you dance the night away. Concert: 8:00 PM. Lions Club Firework Show: Approx. 9:30 PM. Free — no tickets required.
